Hodie uobis omnibus, dilectissimis lectoribus et sodalibus, primum nostrum magno cum gaudio exhibemus "renga", hoc est carmen continuum in morem Iaponicum ligatum. "Renga" est enim carmen Iponiae uetus gregatim editum, cuius ex prima stropha (cui nomen est "hokku) deinde deriuatum est, quod omnibus sub nomine haicu notum est.
"Renga" genus fuit carminis, quod maxima uiguit existimatione apud Iapones, cuiusuqe magister, ut nempe haicuum, fuit et ille Matsuo Basho.
In poetarum conuentu, hoc autem modo fieri solebat "renga": is, qui ab omnibus summus haberetur magister, primam declamabat stropham (cui nomen, ut iam dictum, "hokku") per formam, quae eadem est haicus, 5-7-5. Posthac, alter insequebatur poeta, qui argumento ex "hokku" desumpto (libere quidem adque libitum ex ipsius autem "hokku" singulo uocabulo, tenore, indole, scaena, personis, imagine aut animi, qui perciperetur, sensu) duplum proponebat septenarium, per formam igitur 7-7. Deinde tertius insequebatur poeta, qui stropham iterum conuictoribus exhiberet per formam 5-7-5 iterumque argumento ex stropha priore (hoc est duplo septenario) delecto. Omnia igitur hoc nempe modo iterabantur ab omnibus poetis, eo quidem usque dum integrum et solidum pangeretur poema.
Hic ergo uobis primum nostri sodalicii proponimus "renga", poetis Flaminio, Sixto, Roxa, Logodaedalo Cosanoque; quod autem uobis omnibus gratum fore enixe speramus.

Presentiamo oggi ai nostri lettori e amici il primo poema "renga" del nostro Sodalicium. Si tratta di un antico genere poetico giapponese, dalla cui prima strofa (chiamata "hokku") è in seguito nato l'haiku. Matsuo Basho fu maestro anche di questo genere di versificazione.
Il "renga" è di fatto un poema incatenato, che veniva prodotto durante incontri o banchetti tra poeti nel modo seguente: colui, che fosse ritenuto il maestro dagli altri poeti, proponeva una prima strofa (l'"hokku" appunto) nella forma, comune all'haiku, di 5-7-5. A seguire, il secondo poeta prendeva avvio dall'"hokku", scegliendo da questo un argomento (basandosi a piacere e liberamente su una singola parola, sul tenore generale, sulla scena rappresentata, su un'immagine o anche sullo stato d'animo suggerito) e proponendo una seconda strofa nella forma 7-7 di doppio settenario. A questo punto, il terzo poeta, muovendosi al modo del secondo e scegliendo un argomento dalla strofa precedente (ossia dal doppio settenario) declamava una terza strofa nella forma 5-7-5 e così via con tutti gli altri poeti, finchè non fosse stato prodotto un intero poema.
Vi proponiamo dunque in questa sede il nostro primo "renga", scritto collettivamente da Flaminius, Sixtus, Roxas, Logodaedalus e Cosanus, sperando che possa essere una lettura per voi gradita.

We are proud to present you all our first "renga", which is a Japanese-style linked poem, whose first stanza was the origin of the haiku. Matsuo Basho was a master of this poetic genre too.
The "renga" was a collective feat and was composed thus during poetic gatherings or banquets: the poet, who was to be considered the absolute master by his companions, proceeded to recite a first stanza (the "hokku") in the form, common to haiku, of 5-7-5. Afterwards, the second poet followed suit, taking his move from the "hokku" and choosing a theme from its contents (a single word, the general atmosphere, the scene represented, an image or the perceived emotions) and produced thus a second stanza in the form 7-7 of a double septenary. Then again, the third poet proceeded by reciting a third stanza in the form 5-7-5, whose theme, just as for the second poet, was to be drawn by the preceeding stanza (which is the double septenary). Everything proceeded in this same and iterated manner for all the poets present, until a full linked poem was produced.
